About Little Scholars of Detroit

At Little Scholars of Detroit, we are committed to providing an exceptional experience for children and families through high-quality education, innovative programming, and a nurturing environment where every child can thrive. Our mission is rooted in excellence in early childhood and youth development. We believe that every child deserves access to a safe, engaging, and supportive learning space that encourages curiosity, confidence, and growth. Our team of highly trained and dedicated educators goes above and beyond to create meaningful learning experiences tailored to each child’s needs. Through strong relationships and intentional instruction, we ensure that every scholar feels valued, supported, and inspired to succeed. Our family-friendly facilities are thoughtfully designed to promote safety, creativity, and exploration. We implement research-based programs that combine play-based learning, hands-on experiences, and innovative educational tools to support the whole child—academically, socially, and emotionally. In addition to our core programs, we offer reliable transportation and after-school care for elementary and middle school students attending nearby schools. Our extended learning opportunities provide a structured and enriching environment where students can continue to grow beyond the school day. We also believe in the power of the arts as a pathway to success. By integrating creative expression into our programming, we help children develop confidence, critical thinking skills, and a deeper connection to learning. At Little Scholars of Detroit, we are more than a childcare provider—we are a community dedicated to shaping future leaders, thinkers, and innovators.
The Curriculum
OFFERING The Creative Curriculum®
Little Scholars Child Development Center uses The Creative Curriculum® as the foundation for creating the best programs for children. This research-based, age-appropriate approach is challenging, engaging, culturally and linguistically responsive and promotes positive outcomes for children. The curriculum empowers teachers to understand not only the what and how to teach, but why particular practices are effective. Knowing the theory behind child development helps teachers adapt to each child’s learning strengths. The Creative Curriculum® has five fundamental principles that guide preschool program:
-
Positive interactions and relationships with adults provide a critical foundation for successful learning
-
Social-emotional competence is a significant factor in school success
-
Constructive, purposeful play supports essential learning
-
The physical environment affects the type and quality of learning interactions
-
Teacher/family partnerships promote development and learning
The result of these fundamental principles is a comprehensive curriculum with a clear organizational structure and a particular focus on routines and learning experiences. Developmentally appropriate challenges foster joyful and purposeful learning while they address specific needs.
